Most puppies growout of this stage after they lose their puppy teeth - 5 months onwards. A dog that starts chewing at 1year old sounds more like boredom/attention seeking. Is she getting enough exercise? If not, then that is the answer.

Sounds like she is bored and needs some real interaction and exercise instead of just running around on her own, since a 1 year old will not be starting a chewing stage. Her teeth are already in and fine, so walks, obedience lessons, an agility class, etc. Also be sure to pick everything up that isn't hers.

When she gets the shoe, yell LEAVE IT and take it away from her. In fact whenever she touches anything you don't want her to have, yell LEAVE IT and immediately take it away from her. I would also sting her butt with the shoe just to reinforce it, but most people would probably not agree with me. I'm not talking beating here, just a snap on the butt that would sting.

Also, most "dogs" are in their puppyhood for 2 years, so you're probably not going to stop her from chewing for a while yet. My dogs love their pigs ears, but they will chew up a piece of paper, my shoes, or anything they can get their teeth on and they are not puppies. Chewing is just something that dogs do to amuse themselves. You just have to try and make them understand what is and isn't acceptable to chew. It's probably best just to not leave anything around that you don't want them to have, then they won't chew it!!

dogs do not "grow out of" chewing.

Your dog needs to be taught what is appropriate, and what is not.

When you catch her chewing on something that is not allowed, tell her "NO" remove the item, and give her one of her own things and praise. When you do see her chewing on her own things, praise her and tell her what a good dog she is.

Keep shoes and other items that she likes to chew picked up.

In any given situation, focus on what you do want your dog to do instead of on whatever he’s doing wrong. Learn how to train your dog https://tr.im/nycqQ

For example, suppose that on many evenings, your young dog gets busy looking for trouble just as you’re digesting your dinner. He grabs a boot from the mat by the front door and gallops through the house with it. You yell at him and take it away. He grabs its mate. You yell and take it away. He heads for the kitchen and starts checking out the counters in case something tasty’s been left behind. You chase him away. And on and on, until you’ve lost your temper and torn out clumps of hair you can ill afford to lose.
