The Jehovah's Witnesses do go door-to-door, but are not the only ones; perhaps only the most persist-ant (make that 'pesky').

They are a sect that claims not to be a religion, organization, sect or cult founded in something like 1876 by a man named Charles Taze Russell. By definition they are a sect or cult with dubious ties to Christianity since they don't believe that Jesus Christ was God and that the only God is 'Jehovah-God,' the word "Jehovah" a mistransliteration of the Hebrew word Yahweh (sans the vowels which did not exist originally in the Hebrew Alphabet).

What is their creed? In a nutshell the JWs will contradict any accepted main-stream Christian precept. They memorize everything they 'know' and come across as Bible experts. In fact they are ill-informed and slaves to the Watch Tower organization. They are in fact forbidden from reading anything not published by the Watch Tower or Aware publications. They are forbidden from pledging allegiance to any government, religion or organization since they are taught that all religions, governments and otherwise organizations are of the Devil. Likewise they are forbidden from having anything to do with any non-Jehovah's Witnesses even though they may be blood-related.

Charles Taze Russell attracted many followers in the early days by promising "Millions now living will never die..." He stated that living forever was Jehovah's plan for the elect. Interestingly enough Charles Taze Russell had the audacity to die on a Santa Fe rail car October 31, 1913 close to Pampa, TX. Which goes to prove that God does have a sense of humor. You see, Charles Taze Russell taught that people did not have souls, but were 'souls.' If a soul ceased to be, he merely ceased to exist as proof definate that that soul was not an elect of Jehovah. Additionally he hated the Catholic Church (in other words, La Santa Fe). So how come he ceased to exist on the eve of all soul's day in 1913 (13 being an unlucky number), in of all things, a Santa Fe Rail car??? It is a pity, a crying shame that his organization failed to cease existing along with him!

By the way, you are in the wrong forum.

they are a cult and they are "made" to so they can earn their way to heaven and they have to reach a certain number of new people before they are "good enough"?! Other religions dont want to bother people at home they do it on street corners,etc... But some other religions will pass out tracks to homes but they aren't as pushy!

They are a religous group that belives in god and jesus but they don't belive in holidays not even christmas or birthdays because they belive god should come first always. And that if you celabrate a birthday you arnt putting god first. They go door to door because in the bible it says to go out and spread the word to save souls i think. I was talking to one that came to my house. But it's not for me.

It's "Jehovah's Witnesses" and they certainly aren't the only religion that wants you to change. And not the only ones who come to your door, although they are notorious for it.

If you want to hunt them keep in mind that the younger ones require less of a lead.
