What do thinning scissors actually do?

May sound like a stupid question, but I don't have the first clue about hair and stuff. Also, do they make your hair easier to style?

basically if you have thick hair the thinning scissors removes alot of hair evenly all over.....

Thinning scissors or thinning shears cut hair at un- even lengths to thin out a hair with altering the length

This is great when you leave the salon

but when you get home style your own hair it is a nightmare!

unless you are willing to straighten your hair everyday and dont mind an inpractical hairstyle

    it can look quite nice

however if you want to be able to leave your hair naturally to dry or have thin hair AVOID

hair can be left stringy too at the ends. these should not be used more than two to three times a year.

They create what you call a "hole" in the middle of the hair which makes it seem thinner.

    hope this helps

Its all about the serated edge, they only take the weight/thickness out of the hair rather than cutting the hair hence the name "thinning scissors". I hope this helps.

Ps, There is a method to using these so if your not professionaly trained or dont have the supervision of someone who is I would strongly advise you not to use them. Although they dont cut hair straight through you could still realy mess up a hair style with one snip too many. Hope Ive helped xx

i have had thinning scissors used on my quite often. all it is, is that instead of regular scissors that cut a straight line these scissors cut like every other centimenter, so basically it is just thinning your hair and yes it does make mine easier to style because my hair is so thick. hope i helped some.

They have a serated edge so that they don't cut all the hairs.

If you have very thick hair it can be difficult to hold ceratin styles so the hair is thinned.

It cuts some hair and leaves some alone. But if you have cury hair or lots of waves, don't do it. It will make your hair wilder. If you have curls, try Mixed Chicks products to help style.
