Have either one of your paretns been diagnosed with a mental illness?

My brother and I diagnosed my mother with Bipolarism, but it's hard to talk to her about going to see a doctor because she thinks they are all quacks. We have to live with her psycho acts.

My parents, no. I'm sure they should be. My grandmother on my fathers side was. I am bipolar, bi-personality disorder, clinical and major, with a little post stress disorder. I have experienced a psychotic episode in 1999 that put me in the hospital for two weeks.

Only if you count Alzheimers.

Schizoaffective is the extreme end of the bipolar spectrum, so yes, there is a link.
