Canon Powershot SD1000 : How to record longer video?

Hi there,

I have a digital camera Canon Powershot SD1000, and I lost the manual. I purchased a 4GB memory card which promised 1 hour 40 minutes of MPEG2-VIDEO recording time (704 x 480 pixels, 5 MBPS) and 19 hours of MPEG-4 video recording time (320 x 240 pixels, 384 KBPS).

When I started recording, I expected to be able to take at least an hour of video .. when it turned out I was able to take video for only 12 minutes (I got a Memory Card full error). Since I lost the manual, I have no idea how to change the setting in order for me to record longer video.

Can someone either link me to the manual, or tell me step by step how to change the video recording quality? I would really appreciate it.

if you have other pictures on the card, then it could be full.

to change the settings, go to the video icon (on the scroll wheel it looks like an old school camera) and press the menu option. scroll through the pages to page 3 i think and there you can change the resolution. like you mentioned, changing to lower quality takes the res down to 320x240 which is pretty low. you'll be able to record longer, but bad quality...

    hope this helps

the optimum video determination is 640x480 at 30 fps. that is the classic default placing of the digicam and it consumes MB, fairly than GB (8 minutes of video=1GB). you are able to decrease the length of your video to 320x240 at 30 fps. i does not recommend that you shoot in 15fps, until eventually you do not recommendations very jerky video. If I were you, i'd proceed to shoot video on the optimum high quality/determination...and, both decrease the length of the video you shoot or purchase a larger SD card or playing cards. those playing cards are very less expensive, so one or 2 2GB playing cards must be the better effective determination. Your advanced person handbook will tutor you a thanks to regulate the length if that is what you fairly go with. seem interior the Index...less than action picture (capturing).
