First you have to pull the cover (black plastic abs-says Vvt-i on it) then the plugs are right down the center of the head underneath the coils (there are four, one for each cylinder) so first take out a coil then remove the spark plug.

Hi,
two additional details to the ones posted:
Each cylinder has it's own injector with the spark plug mounted under that injector.
You will need to remove the VVT-i cover and then pull each injector seperately to access each plug. As others have said, just follow the wires to the injectors and you'll be able to remove them from there.
Also, the plugs on the Corolla are not due to be replaced for 100,000 miles. Not saying it's not possible, but 33,000 miles a year is quite a bit of driving.
Check the maintenance logbook that came with the Corolla, just in case, to cover the other items that need to be done also.
Good luck.

You have "coil over plug". You must remove the engine
cover, and you will see four coils, each attached with a
bolt, remove the bolt, wiggle the coil carefully and pull up.
A long rubber boot will be attached. The spark plug is inside
the hole.

if you cannot find the spark plugs on a car than you shouldn't be under the hood at all.

take the plastic shield off the top of the block they are under it!!!
When you pop the hood whatever is a different material (probably black plastic) is covering the plugs and wires
