I need help with a algebra question?

the question states:

How many pounds of nails costing $7 per pound must be mixed with 6 pounds of nails costing $3 per pound to yield a mixture costing $4 per pound?

i know the answer which is 2 pounds...but i cant figure out how they got the answer.....its in a book that my husband got for the ASVAB....it doesnt explain it well and im no help to him...so could someone please explain how this answer came to be? thank you

it was somthing like 4(6+x)=7x+18......but then im lost

    Ow my brain hurts, I haven't done algebra for years but I think youre correct with the 2 pounds, sorry wish I was more help
