how do i get rid of disc scratches without a resurfacing machine?
i have already resurfaced it about 3 or 4 times and it still wont work. it's called the legend of Zelda the twilight princess for the wii. it keeps saying the disc cannot be read i have read alot of things but none of them have worked.
i can only use stuff around the house

Steel wool. And if that fails, sand blasting.
If you've resurfaced it 3 times already and it still doesn't work, then the scratches likely go all the way through to the data surface. Discs are not indestructible, just simply durable. Proper handling and storage techniques still need to be observed.

try using disk cleaner. that should work.
