Sea Calm by Langston Hughes?

Sea Calm

How still,

How strangely still

The water is today,

It is not good

For water

To be so still that way.

I recently began reading poetry and this poem by Langston Hughes is a little vague to me. My understanding of it is that he is saying that he noticed "something" was unusual at that time. I would expect more detail as to what that something is....can this poem really not have a "deep" meaning?

He just wrote a poem about how one day the water was "strangely" still and every other time it wasn't! He states that water should not be still, but be moving (that would make surfers happy! lol).

    hope this helped out! :)
