Head of the mosque?

Shi'ites have an imam whom they hold in high regard and he is thought of as divine or divinely named; Sunnis have imams who are learned men but no official head of the religion. Prayer is practiced in the mosque only on Fridays.

A Mosque should be nobody's possesion therefore in modern terminology it must be in a posssion of Trustee. A Trustee can be a group of people which may organize certain kind of committee thus the Chair of the commitee is the leader of the Mosque in terms of its manegerial issues. The committee may appoint/hire a religious professional person who leads prayer and also provide religious educational service. This person may be called IMAM.

The leader of the mosque is called an Imam.

Mosque is a reserved space for worshipping "The Lord of the heavens and earth, the Creator, the Benefactor, the ONE who have not parallel, he was neither created". It is empty space of building with out any sign or pictures. Muslim can pray at any clean place but praying in mosque has higher reward.

Mosque has no head or owner, all muslims are its owners after God. To keep regular system of prayer one of good muslim is assigned responsibility of leading prayers. And if he is absent any one with knowledge can come forward and lead.

Imam is the leader and the trem used for the place whee muslims worship is "Masjid".
