I don't think its the broadband icon. I think its the (LAN) Local Area Network Icon on your taskbar. 100 MB/s is the speed on the router/hub you are using at home/work.

100 mbps is ur port's maximum connection speed..while 256 kbps is the maximum download speed...i download my files at 220kbps, i get down 100 mb in approx 6 mins

the connection from your computer to the router is 100 mbps. the connection between your router and the rest of the internet is 350 kbps
