Prostitution?

Do you think that if there was no more prostitution women would be respected more or would violent crime go up? Or neither? What is your view?

i think that women should be able to do what they want with their bodies and if they wanna sell it then thats ok and i don't think it has much to do with crime unless drugs are involved and usually thats the deal

    Crime would go up.

There is still porn. All those people looking at it will eventually want sex. Some sooner than others. Some more than others. Some who want it really bad and really soon, and are willing to pay for it.

Take away that option to "pay for it", and I don't want to think of who the victim could be.

There are definitely people out there who cannot have/do not deserve consensual sex without paying for it.

Those people, with their prostitution option removed, may not all necessarily turn to rape as an alternative. But they may spend more time trying to con a woman into having sex with them than actually caring about them.

This happens all the time, I know. But it would happen even more.

At least with prostitution, the man is being honest in his desires. He doesn't lie to the prostitute. In essence, he treats her with more respect than the women he lies to in order to have "free" sex.

Source(s): Never had or would have done a prostitute.

homicide is the number one cause of death of prostitutes in the usa.

many believe it's not just "prostitutes" its women who happen to work in the sex trade and are therefore easier to kill.

before you say that prostitutes are vulnerable - consider this - so are children, homeless, elderly, pimps, etc. and they are not targeted by so many serial killers.

if prostitiution did not exist, perhaps women would be respected more b/c we'd be the only source for sex. then again, some men will not be able to get sex and perhaps they would be violent (already exists, it wd worsen).
