interested in sikhism.?
hello all, i am starting to take interest in sikhism, and i now need to know some facts.
-when did sikhism start? or the earliest use?
-is there a book centered around it? (like bible, torah, qu'ran)
-what are the major beliefs?
-is there a main building (like a church, synagogue or a mosque)? and who would be the leaders of it (like a pastor, imam or a rabbi)
thank you so much! this will help me much.

I'm studying this Religion, right now.
It was founded in the fifteenth century.
The Holy Scriptures of the Sikhs are enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib.
The major beliefs are that one should strive to attain Nirvana, by conquering the five evils and escape the grind of reincarnation. Please refer to the links below for more details.
Their Place of Worship is called the Gurudwara. The "Priests" are usually given the title "Giani" which means "Wise".
Hope this helped.

PS,
Just saw that and I agree with the ex-Sikh, they do accept converts, though they do not actively proselytize.

They do not proselytize. I don't believe they accept converts either. The only way to get close to the religion seems to be through marriage.
( I had a Sikh cab driver on a long drive once. and he didn't mind my questions)
