Is Anybody Better then Cliff Lee RIGHT NOW-how sick are his numbers?

31.2 Innings Pitched

11 Hits

29 Strikeouts

2 Walks allowed

1 Earned run

4-0 Record

0.28 ERA

I cannot remember the last time a pitcher in recent memory has got off to a start like this. At one point tonight he had 71 strikes and 18 Balls...this is ridiculous. Of course he won't keep this up all year. Nobody could-but he is pin-point accurate right now. Nobody can beat him right now. It's not like he's a mediocre fluke pitcher having a great start either. Lets remember this young lefty has won 18 games and usually is good for 15 wins a year. Has finished a few years with ERA's in the 3's...which is damn good for the American League.

His last two starts he has 17 IP 5 Hits 0 Runs 17 strikeouts.

As I said earlier, this pace is impossible to maintain, but what kind of numbers do you see him finishing with this year if he stays healthy?

I got a lot of flack for picking Cliff Lee to win the Cy Young a couple of years ago. He's always had the ability but has had injury problems. But it's nice to see him do well...if for no reason but for my own ego haha.

I'm not sure if anyone is better, but I can make a case for John Smoltz. Smoltz has given up 2 earned in 23 innings, but more impressively, he's got 31 K's. Don't let his 3-1 record fool you either, he only gave up 1 run in his loss.
