tips for reducing hair colour fading?

Every time i dye my hair the colour fading dramatically fast. I use colour lock shampoos to try and stop this or at least slow it down .. but it still fades.

I was just wondering if anyone has any helpful tips of how to reduce hair fading besides using colour lock shampoo and conditioners?

It generally depends from person to person how long a dye will last without fading, nothing you can do about it except avoid over washing and do not use anti dandruff shampoos. My hair is terrible for keeping in colour, I bleached it jst 4 weeks ago and dyed it (semi permanent) crazy colour pink and it's now pretty much back to its bleached colour unfortunately. Red dyes or dyes with reddish tints to them fade the fastest as well.

i had this problem and went to the hairdresser, they put a permanent on but that too faded in a week. They said because my hair had been dyed so much it had become porous and so the colour was just running out of it. i had to use colour shampoos etc for ages with conditioner before i could get it to retain a colour again. I got colour shampoo from hairdresser that worked a bit.

all colours will fade over time but the best way to speed this up is to add salt into your shampoo Iam affraid that you would need to colour over this colour but if you were dark brown this would be fairly straight forward and all you would have to do is apply a semi-permenant colour over the top remembering to follow the manufacturers instruction to the letter

It's probally the hair dye your using so try switching that and going to a beauty salon where they sell devolper and hair dye sepratley than use that. It stays in longer.

Well, you can not use striaghnters or curlers, with out a hair product to protect it. Shamppo and condition it very throughly, and dont wear up into a poney tail to much. These are somethings that workes for some people, i hope i helped!

    this happenes to me exactly!

    i used a semi-permanent, supposed to last 28 washes

    it lasted 1 WEEK!!

have you tried bleaching your hair first as colour seems 2 last longer on white/blond hair than darker hair where you just get a tint.

Get a product with SPF in it. A hair product of course dont go using regular sunscreen in your hair :)

have them use a filler on your hair before the color. i dont know why more hairdressers dont but if your color is not taking and its fading you need a filler first.
