A friend of mine doesn't have to use a code around his kids - but he's had to figure out a complex system for his crazy dog. The dog so LOVES to play fetch that just saying the word "ball" sends him into a rip-roaring frenzy in the house. My friend was able to spell it out to get around the hassle for a while but it wasn't long before his dog flipped out when he heard "Does anyone know where Radar's B-A-L-L is?" Now their whole family uses police radio code to beat Radar's keen ear...as in "Where's the Breaker-Adam-Larry-Larry?" Maybe that system will help when adults need to talk around kids...

I'm with 'lolly'!!! All the time, when they were little, teenagers and now as adults. we never had a problem communicating but then i did bring them up to express they're own personal views too. As lolly says though it's worrying just how many parents don't.

Spell it, that is, until children know what you're spelling then it doesn't work.
