To all of you women who say you are not femnists, why don't you stop?
It is amazing to me that women say they are not feminists, yet enjoy the laws that feminists faught for. If you don't like feminism and refuse to fight for the cause, why don't you please: not go to a co-ed school; not report sexual harassment; not ask for the same wage as a male co-worker; not take maternaty leave; not demand 50% of the assets upon divorce; not demand child support! Because, really all those benefits are the result of feminism. (I excluded some benefits as I thought to include them would be discriminatory.) But really, when saying "I as a woman do not support femnism" that is the same as saying "I as a balck person support slavery"! Why are women saying they are not femnists, are they afraid of the backlash?
The reason why women couldn't vote is because the did not see them as persons. So, feminists had to go all the way to Supreme Court to change the law to include women as persons.
To say that because of femnism boys no longer want to stay in school and instead turn to crime, drugs, and suicide is absurd. Women in past dropped out of school to get married. What is making the boys drop out is propably their home situation or the friends they make. The drop outs are young adults and know the choices they make and should be responsible for themselves.
Pregnant teenagers usually drop out too.
The Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms spells out that no person is to be discriminated because of their sex. The Charter prevents feminists to lobby laws that would be discriminatory towards men. So, the superiority of women in law can never be legalized as it would be unconstitutional.
SP women were not trated better than slaves. Do you know where "rule of thumb" came from? In the Victorian times a judge wrote that a man can discipline his wife and children with a stick no thicker than a thumb.
Further, women could not own property or have bank accounts without their father's or husband's signature. All women had to be married or become a nun. If a woman left her husband he was legally responsible for her so he he could search for her and make her come back to him. Basically, a woman was her father's property until he walked her down the aisle and handed her over to her new master.

I agree with you.
If people are not feminist and worse still, going to bag the movement out, then perhaps they should live by their principles and not vote, own property, open bank accounts, work in any but menial jobs at low pay and so on.
At least one could have a modicum of respect for someone like that.
It always makes me grimace when I read the stupidity of, "Feminism isn't what it used to be... blah blah." As IF they'd have supported it at any time, which they clearly wouldn't. Most of these people are sadly ignorant. They didn't know what feminism WAS and they don't know what it IS now either. Rather than learn something they just swallow down whatever the patriarchy feeds them via the male dominated media. They cling to their cherished misconceptions because if they nurture them they can say to men, "Look how good I am!! in contrast to those evil man-haters."
The women can't do without their pat on the head from the patriarchy while they leach off the achievements of others. They lack courage. They have low to no sense of self.
Of course they may choose to be ignorant, spineless patsies of male domination. One can't help that.
The backlash to regain power and deprive women of the rights they have only just obtained is doing famously, enthusiastically helped by ignorant sycophants.

Its backlash from the 1950s. The most real life experience most of these women have "experienced" is all the gender studies literature they read in college and just makes them mad and vengeful. Even if the men of today had nothing to do with the true oppression back then we are that object of revenge and contempt b/c we're well,, male. Isnt that sexist!? I have to say it would be a lot different being in a womens shoes even now. It still doesn't make it right to take it out especially on guys born in the 80s. 65% of all colleges in the US are women and its only a matter of time before some angry feminist is your boss and taking it all out on you. Am I afraid? Hell Yes! and with good reason its a conspiracy.

This sounds suspiciously like the "you're either with us or against us" quote from the Bush Administration manifesto.
Seriously, if a woman wishes to remain neutral i.e. not be an anti-feminist nor support your cause what right do you have to demand support in the name of an archaic movement?
It is not the same as a black man supporting slavery, that is twisted logic..
the only analogy that truly parallels what you're saying is Nazi Germany, "we have taken you out of your poverty out of the 'goodness of our hearts' now we just expect you to kill a few Jews for us"

i completely agree. i don't mind if someone genuinely doesn't know the definition of a feminist, but after explaining it to them and they still say 'i'm not a feminist' then who knows? (throwing hands up in the air) those that gladly accept all these rights but label themselves anti-feminists are just ungrateful bitches. i like the quote 'there is a special place in hell for women who do not help other women'.
do muslims stop calling themselves muslims because of a few extremists? no

Women were treated better than slaves prior to the advent of feminism.
All feminists did was whine until the men caved in. But in the end, all there rights were still given to them by men. Non-feminist women have just as much right to those rights.

I don't think your assertion is fair. I claim not to be a feminist because I don't like being associated with "ism" labels in general. However, I do support NOW, I do support equality for all, I have reported unwanted sexual harassment, and I should be make the same as a male for the exact same job!
It is not the same thing as saying I as a black person support slavery.
Why can't I be an assertive, free-thinking, fun loving woman to all instead of HAVING to have a label attached?? If this is representative of having an "ism" is, then I want no part of it.

Saying that you aren't a feminist is not the same as being against feminism.
I am not a Republican, but that does not make me a Democrat.
Not everyone is interested in being political. See, that's what's great about America. We have politicians who can be politically active for us. Say for example, I'm Amish. I don't want to take part in technological advances. It doesn't mean I'm against them. It's just not in my beliefs to have them. I neither disagree nor agree with them. I'm not going to send someone to he11 over it because I think they should believe and be as motivated as I am.
I prefer for everyone to be free thinkers and believe as they wish. If everyone were the same that would kind of make us like communists.
EDIT: Oh yeah, way to promote President Bush's if you aren't for us then you're against us policy.

When women say they aren't feminists, they don't mean that they disagree with the efforts of some past feminsts to allow women to go to co-ed schools, report sexual harassment, etc. They mean that they disagree with some modern feminists who are just man haters.

Im NOT a femnist. I read your comment and I don't really think it's a question but a blog. In any case I don't care about any of what you listed among the things we who aren't femninst favor.
I'm 19, mixed race and I don't care if guys make more than me, if I can vote, or go to school because I taught myself to read and stuff, or working. I mean quiet honestly working sucks. Everyday I get up for work I'm sad :(. Wish I could stay home but I can't I mean I guess I'm lazy.
But now days it's becoming increasingly popular for women to stay home and not work. We've done all of it. Made more then men, voted, divorced, worked and it really kind of blows. Because now instead of it being a option to work you have to work and instead of being married the norm now it's being divorced and having 3 kids....I don't favor it. Besides we have the ability to vote and what has that done? Nothing because majority of the U.S. don't vote. If voting was THAT important to us then why aren't we all doing it???? Also we wouldnt have to demand baby leave if we didn't work, or child support if we didn't get divorces or have babies out of marriage.
I'm not trying to sound crazy or anything but stating my ideas on your comments.
Thanks.

It is a matter of how people view the word "feminist".
