Have you ever met a musician?

Did you just talk briefly, or actually hang out for a while? Was the musician anything you expected him/her to be? Fell free to give any details; such as time, place, etc.

Also, if you haven't met anyone, who would you like to meet? What do you think they'd be like?

    I've met the following:

Kirk Hammett- hung out for awhile with him..about 45 minutes.

Lars Ulrich- He ended up hanging out in my friend's hotel room for the longest time... really cool guy.

Scott Ian- not as short as I thought he would be, but still not a tall guy.- 30 minutes total around him

Dave Navarro- Kind of greasy guy.. felt like I needed to take a shower after I shook his hand, then wanted to take an alcohol bath after he hugged me before he left... eeww...40 minutes hang out time

Henry Rollins- Met him the same night as I met scott ian and dave navarro, now that guy is kinda short.. he seems so big on t.v....... less that 10 minutes hanging out with him

Dave Mustaine- Met him at the naam convention last year... just said "hey, dave mustaine!" he looked up said "Hey, what's going on?" and we shook hands and that was that...

Ozzy Osborne, Geezer Butler, Tony Iomi, Bill Ward- Meeting these guys was the most surreal moment of my life. It was the only time I've ever been star-struck. I grinned, stared, bowed before Ozzy (what else can you do in that man's prescence???) He made a joke about me bowing, I chuckled nervously (still grinning like a fool) handed him my CD insert wich he signed along with the rest of them. And then he made another joke about the look of awe on my face and I chuckled nervously again, and he reached out his hand to shake mine and I gave him the gayest most limp wristed hand shake anyone has ever given anyone and I walk out and immediate came back to reality and looked at my friend and said "GaWD DAMNIT I JUST GAVE OZZY THE GAYEST FRIGGIN HANDSHAKE EVER!!! WTF WAS I THINKING?!?!?!"

    Non-Musicians:

Ever seen the beethoven movies?? Howabout Heavy Weights?? Seen Rookie of the year??? How about All I Want For Christmas??? Well, there is a chubby blonde kid in all of those films name Patrick LeBrecque, and I went to high school with that guy... he was the biggest pot head... cool guy to hang with though.. had a pretty hot girlfriend.

Yes. You guys are going to kill me haha. When I was in Boston I ate dinner in a fancy hotel because my Mom had a paid conference there, and Renee Fleming was in the restaraunt. I'd been staring at her despite my best attempts, I just couldn't place whether it was her, and I was giving her that weird look people give you when they want to talk to you but don't know if they should. When she left, then, walking right past me, she did say hi, and then I asked her if she was Renee Fleming and she smiled and said yes. I have no idea if she's always like that or if she was just in a good mood (she seemed to really be enjoying her conversation), but she was extremely charming. Not a "diva" at all. I also met Jimmy Carter at a book signing when I was there, he was visiting Harvard and I was so excited. Obviously a lot of people went because it was Jimmy Carter, but I actually have written essays criticizing Israeli policies in Gaza and the West Bank, so since the book was on peace in the holy land I was doubly excited I also had an hour and a half long conversation with Noam Elkies about classical music. He's a legendary mathematician (youngest tenured professor in Harvard history), also a respected pianist apparently (mostly Bach), and while he was just a little conceited, he was *so* brilliant. I mean you'd expect it, but it was absolutely insane. I've never felt so downright uncultured and intellectually deficient in my life. I guess a little conceit is sometimes justified haha... I was there for one semester and a summer, and I met more brilliant people than any other students there had met in years. They took it for granted, majorly- I was in heaven

there might be others who I've met through , working with or working. I did lot of clubbing in Los Angeles, Ca from 1993 to 2005 too as well. In 2005. I was very, very fortunate to have recorded my best drum solo with the famous Solo Artist Sebastian Sidi. www.sebastiansidi.com He's big time now!

Source(s): Solo Artist of 4 years. Rock/metal drummer of 20 years. Guitarist of 10 years. A lot of clubbing & partying for 10 years
  • yes a few times. I met Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zandt (.38 Special) after a concert (backstage pass) so I got a guitar pick and autographs. We also talked for a good 15 minutes. Both are very nice guys.

Met and talked with all 3 members of Zebra for a good half hour between sets at a cd release party for the cd Zebra IV. Also got autographs guitar pick and a drum stick. Zebra was by far the easiest, no backstage pass needed.

I hung w/ James Hetfield and Jason Newstead after Metallica played the shows w/ the SF Symphony. Talked w/ Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue. I got invited to go to Vegas w/ Stuck Mojo after hanging w/ them in Hollywood. I met some others too but I can't remember right now. These were by far the most significant.

If I could meet and hang out with anybody, I would really like to meet Ted Nugent. Reason being, is that my guitar playing is very close to his style and I would love the chance to jam w/ him.

All band members of AC/DC and Ynguie Malmsteen 1985 Fly on the Wall tour. After the show we went to the Hilton Hotel because that is where we heard they were staying at. We looked all around the hotel and could not find any one so we started to leave. As we were walking out the door Brian Johnson was walking in. We talked to him for a few minutes and then he said come on boys lets go over to the pup. We walked into the hotel lounge and there was the remaining members along with Ynguie. Got photos and auto graphs with all. All band members of AC/DC were cool. Ynguie was a but.

in the mid 70"s I met all band members of Jethro Tull they were my favorite band and i found it quite an honour. Ian Anderson who i admire for his musical talents was offhand and not what i imagined to be at all, John Glassock (since deceased) was a really lovely guy, warm and gorgeous looking . Martin Barrie was painfully shy and blushed which was refreshing for a guitarist of his caliber.

Have also met Glenn Cornick formerly of Tull then Wild Turkey he was or appeared to be out of it.

Went to a party with Slade and Jimmy Leah took me and my friend home. Noddy Holder was great a nice down to earth guy. Dave Hill thought he was the most wonderful guitarist ever. Don the drummer was very quiet and didn't say much at all.

Recently met Paolo Nutini he was friendly and nice. think he will go far as i love his music.

I have met all the members of Alabama and Zeus & Atlas. Even though Zeus & Atlas are just an up and coming band at the moment, I really feel like they will make it big soon. I talked with both members of Zeus & Atlas for a long time about everything from fishing to the election to music to the price of tea in China. For those who may be out of the loop, you can read more about the dynamic duo at the link below.

Not counting my various family members and my bandmates in HS(concert orchestra, not rock band), yes.

I've actually hung out with Dope on their Tour bus, and at a bar a few times (we have common friends), and I hang out with Trip Tribett, their current bassist and former lead singer of Twisted Method, on a fairly regular basis.

I've had conversations with the various members of Echoes of Eternity as well as the Lead singer for Sanctity at one concert, and met the guitarist for Twelfth Gate at another.

I've also met ADD(Analog Digital Disorder), a Chicago Band.

Each of these people was a lot of fun, although Edsel Dope is a tad aloof.

When I met Dope, it was about four years ago, on my cousin's 21st. My mother was there at the time. It was funny watxhing her talk to them.

I'd love to meet Kai Hansen or John Schaeffer. They are my two favorite musicians.
