Survival guide for Northwest: expect nothing, and hopefully they can meet your expectations. I'm not one of those people who believe that customer service in the airline industry is universally awful--Jetblue, Continental, Frontier, and Southwest are all awesome (if you have the right expectations.)

I'd bring a snack, or if you're connecting in Minneapolis there are a billion places to eat. Many NW planes have no entertainment systems--the DC9s--so be prepared to amuse yourself as well. Those DC9s also have very limited overhead space, so don't bring a thick carry-on.

If you're sitting in the back of the plane, there aren't always enough snack boxes to go 'round, best to pack your own food. You can also bring an empty water bottle through security and fill it up at a water fountain so you don't have to pay $4 on the other side of the X-rays.

The cabin crew on Northwest are some of the worst in the industry (no, not every one of them, but many. And who could blame them, the way management keeps cutting their pay while increasing their own.) It's usually Attitude with a capital A. Skipped safety presentations, one trash run on final approach, and if you're lucky enough to sit near a galley, you can listen to them complain about their jobs, the passengers, and more.

The upside: they get you where you're going, and the website is pretty functional.

I have flown Northwest several times and had fine experiences. The last trip was to Shanghai, via Tokyo. They fed us fine. I assume your flights are domestic, hence the meal boxes. If you are worried about that, just buy some snacks before the airport and water or other drink IN THE AIRPORT ( you cannot take liquids in that quantity past security). I never count on a meal on a plane to satisfy me. I always take my own stuff, especially for longer flights (2+ hours). You can expect pretty much the same as any other airline.

I have always had a pleasant experience while flying NW..4 stops will make it less pleasant for you..but thats the trade for getting a cheap ticket. In my opinion I feel that I am missing nothing from on board meals..in Detroit or Minneapolis there are numerous places to eat or grab snack and coffee. I wouldn't say my experience on any plane or airline has been what I would consider fun but there are ways to pass the time...I always travel with my Ipod and a book or magazine. If you are traveling with a companion try bringing a deck of cards..My boyfriend and I recently entertained ourselves for a couple of hours on a long flight from Detroit to LA.

in case you haven't any longer the different potential of scientific insurance then i think of that is a great subject. besides, Boston has been a significant concentration city for US airlines (variety of a secondary hub city) for a protracted time. that would point out extra of a job risk-free practices with USAIR. quite in case you want scientific insurance, i might extremely pass to the interview - in spite of the undeniable fact that, you will possibly ought to attend their very own training direction - yet another 2 weeks? which would be a touch puzzling financially. I used to paintings for USairways and lower back then they had a a techniques better pay scale than Northwest, in spite of the undeniable fact that i do no longer comprehend if this remains actual with each and all the restructuring that has been finished. Did they inform you with reference to the pay scale. I submit to in suggestions USair brokers became unionized, which could have some advantages and confer extra advantageous pay will boost (that is mainline no longer the interior of sight ingredient). If the pay is as stable or extra advantageous, i might choose for USair in easy terms for the scientific advantages on my own.
