Ok, first off, You need a direct broadband connection.

There are a few ways to connect up to xbox live.

    1) The Wired Option

When you bought your Xbox 360, In the box there must of been a long grey thin cable with 2 ends looking the same. Heres a pic.

You plug one end into the back of the Xbox 360 and the other into the back of your computer's router. Helping pic below.

And once your connected, it's good to go. It's easy.

    2) The Wireless option

The wireless option is good if your computer is quite far away from your xbox 360. This option is best if you have a Wireless Router. But the Con of this is that you have to buy a $100 Xbox Wireless adapter. But you could always find a cheap one on ebay. Here is what it looks like (below)

That depends on if you have a wireless router or router in your house or a second modem. If you have a second modem, it's easy, just plug that into the cable or phone jack (depending on if you have DSL or cable) and plug an ethernet cable in. If you have a regular router in your house, you would need to run a wire from the router to your Xbox. If you have a wireless router..thats trickier, you need to buy a $100 accessory for your 360 that would let it pick up wireless network signals. I'd get it off Ebay or Amazon if I were you lol. Then you would need to set up the wireless, if you have trouble with that just look on the net for help or ask another question here.

To use xbox live you need a connection to the internet. You can accomplish this either by running a long cable from wherever your internet connection comes into your home or you can set up a wireless network (requiring you to purchase a wireless access point and a wireless adapter for your xbox).

You will need a Ethernet cable, there are very big long ones you can buy, but you connect it to your computer with internet hook it with your xbox 360 and start playing, good luck.

It doesn't really matter where you put your xbox as long as there is a tv there :P.

If its out of cable variety or not convientent, i will advise getting that on the spot adapter. I did note, even if, that with on the spot I do lag significantly more advantageous than with my stressed connection. wager that's only a commerce off; conveinence or performance?
