What is the cheapest I can get for a ticket to New Zealand/Australia from Boston, MA or Providence, RI?

I have the flexibility to travel anytime and it doesn't matter how long I go for. The airline can also be anything, even if it takes 6 stops.

I actually just did this exact flight in February, Providence to LAX via Southwest, then LAX to Auckland on Air New Zealand. I got the cheapest tickets by using the Air NZ web site. It was much cheaper than on the travel sites like cheapseats. I paid around US$700 for a one-way ticket from LAX to AKL, Southwest tickets tend to vary. It may be cheapest to break the flight up this way rather than fly direct from Boston. Either way, you are looking at almost 22 hours in the air though.

Tickets to New Zealand and Australlia tend to be very expensive. I'd talk to a travel agent on this one, because even though they will charge a small fee (usually under 100 dollars), this will be much less that what they could potentially save you (up to 1,500 dollars) by using their connections =]
