be sure that you are all connected to only one network, even if you have internet connection but the computer that you're trying to ping is connected to a different router, then it's impossible for that unit to ping.

The win2k Computers No.1 & No.2 do show all computers on the network, but when I try to connect to one of them I get a error message: //computer No.1 not accessible, The Network Path Not Found.
The XP Home computer No.3 does not show any computers on the network and the error message reads: Workgroup not accessible, you might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the network administrator of this server to see if you have access permissions. The list of severs for this network is not currently available.

What are you trying to ping? Host name or IP address.
If you're trying to ping the host name then it's likely that you don't have NetBIOS turned on so your system isn't receiving the host names that correspond to each machine hence the 'No Host Found' error.

If you can surf the net and everything. check your workgroup is it the same as they use? or do they have shared files? try to access your computer from their end. try run then \\(computer name of which you want to access) if that does not work try disabling or reinstalling your NIC.

it might be firewalled,or its in different subnet, subnetting is used to isolate part of network from other parts.check subnet mask for your computer and the computer you are trying to connect to.its like 255.255.0.0 or something but different for both.
