when are the tax surplus checks being mailed?

Let's be nitpicky--these are NOT surplus checks.

The US government is *not* running a surplus. It's in debt. These rebate checks put the US deeper in debt.

It very clearly states on the IRS website the following schedule:

Some taxpayers may receive smaller economic stimulus payments than they anticipated. By law, the stimulus payments are offset to satisfy past-due taxes, student loans, child support and certain other debts.

If your direct deposit processed thru a 3rd party (such as a refund anticipation loan, placed on a card, or if you had your fees withheld from the refund by your tax preparer) you will recieve a paper check.

Yes, they did start sending out direct deposits on Monday, but all that was is the government broke up each group and is sending their rebates during the week instead of all on one day (so if you are in group one which is #s 00-20 you will recieve your rebate on or before May 2nd, you are not guaranteed to get it before May 2nd).

The IRS is not doing it in the order they were recieved, they are going by the last 2 digits of your SSN...so please be paitent!

If you put your direct deposit information on your tax form (line 74) then the government has your information otherwise i guess you will get a check. that is kind of annoying!!!!

personally i am happy to get extra money. i dont know about nitpickers but life has been expensive to support these days!

Starting in May

Its based on the last 2 digits of your social...go to irs.com and check the calender of when yours will be mailed. Remember they are a week ahead of schedule.

I believe after May 9th.

within the next few weeks. don't depend on it and busy yourself with real life.
