Once the heart rate drops they will make sure the baby is delivered asap, if that means c-section that's what will happen.

There are no other possibilities. This happenned to me and they had to induce me. I had natural birth though. My daughter and I were fine. I had one contraction every 2 hours and had 1 cm. They sent me home. Then the next day I had one contraction every hour and my blood pressure got high. That's when they induced me. As long as your sister's at least 35 or 36 wks pregnant she'll be fine. I was 36 wks pregnant and my daughter weighed 7'10 and ,easured 21 1/2 inches.

If the doctors are worried about the baby, a C section is probably in your sister's near future. Tell her I said Congratulations! on her new baby. I hope everything turns out okay.

If they heart rate dropped that much, the umbilical cord could be wrapped around the baby's neck. They may have to do a c-section.

maybe the baby isnt in the position to be born; or she'll have some complications along the way so its easier to do it this way. also it puts less stress on her and the baby since its heart rate dropped. she could of also requested one or not want to go through the pain and medication.
