Pete Rozelle - Set the the foundation for the NFL with the TV package, Anti-Trust, and the AFL-NFL merger.

Walter Payton - One of the greatest to play the game, one of the greatest man off the field.

Joe Montana - All-time greatest QB of all time, 4 time Super Bowl Champion and did with his coolness.

Vince Lombardi - 2 Super Bowl championships, 7 NFL Championship.

George Halas - The Super Bowl trophy should be named after Halas, but that's a different argument for a different day. 8 World titles, a founding father of the NFL, and an impactful innovator of which the NFL never would've become what it became if hadn't been involved.

Curly Lambeau - He was one of the first great coaches of the NFL (6 World Championships). He was part of founding the NFL and he was the creator of the Green Bay Packers, so without Lambeau there is no Packers and therefore Vince Lombardi never becomes "Vince Lombardi".

Steve Sabol Sr. and/or Steve Sabol Jr. - Bottom line, most people watching football today who are at least 30 but under 45 got interested because of NFL films. NFL Films told the story of pro football in a way that no other sports film company was ever able to duplicate. The Sabol's are GIANTS, and I attribute much of the success of pro football in the modern era to the incredible films that these men put together.

Roone Arledge - For all the credit Pete Rozelle gets for the merger, let's understand that without Roone Arledge's work to get the AFL on TV, the AFL would've died, there never would've been a Super Bowl, and there never would've been a merger. Also, Roone Arledge was the mastermind behind Monday Night Football which is now an afterthought, but in 1970 and up to about 1995, MNF was an iconic staple that everyone who loved football waited for.

    1. Lombardi, his name in on the freking trophy!

    2. Madden, his name is synonymous with football.

    3. Walter Camp, never played an actual game Professionally. Was a rugby player that made some rule changes that created Football that the NFL was started upon. Known as the " Father of American Football. He should probably be #1. If your going from left to right.

Now I should include a player

    4. Should put quarterback here but, I'm gonna put a player that majorly dominated his position instead, Jerry Rice.

    4.

It would probably have to be 4 of the influential "founders." I'd go with:

Lombardi -- Seen as the greatest coach of all time. Has the championship trophy named after him.

George Halas - Legendary player and coach of the Chicago Bears

Harold "Red" Grange - First superstar of professional football

Art Rooney - Owner of Pittsburgh Steelers, carried the NFL through the Great Depression

Vince-Great Coach, Trophy is named after him, football royalty...how the game should be played.

Jim Brown-Possibly the greatest player at his position ever, stand-up human being

Joe Montana-Super Bowl Champ many times, clutch, winning personality, the way the position should be played.

Deacon Jones-Many would say Reggie White...they would be wrong, Jones had years of 24 and 26 sacks before the stat was kept, master of the club move...by Whites own words taught White how to pass rush. One of the most feared defenders ever.

If you think Obama belongs on Mt. Rushmore..I am sorry. To say that he has done even a fraction of what the men on that Mt. did for the betterment of this country is to speak blasphemy. To say that he belongs there is like saying Bill Clinton deserves to be the spokesperson for the abstinence movement.
