The Crab Season is determined by their migration pattern as they travel in and out of each area. I'm assuming your talking about the deadliest catch show and they're out there working those horrible hours in order to maximize their catch in the time period allowed, and this is determined by the department of marine fisheries,( a good web site)

depending on the animals previous migration patterns, and this information is also priceless to the industry so as to know where to fish each year. For every winter is crab season in Alaska, and there's only a certain amount of it that can be taken away without threatening their very existance.

I hope this helped bud, stay safe out there

very similar to chilly climate bass fishing, you should downsize the line, downsize the bait, and take the time. lots of those fish get so torpid (lazy) this time of three hundred and sixty 5 days. stay bait for crappie interior the iciness is of no need. they received't chase their food. Your suitable guess is to bypass ahead and use a small jig, a small tube bait, or a small spoon and merely fish it off the bottom, VERY SLOWLY. If there's a dock out over deeper water (better than 15') you would possibly want to fish there. or you want to get out over deep spots, of route needing a deliver. in the adventure that your ever in Virginia, contact me. i'm waiting to do a touch fishing. reliable success.

Watch "Deadliest Catch" on (I think) Discovery Channel. Much of it has to do with population management, but there's a whole series I think you'll find enlightening.

Ps, I agree recreational fishing should be done in pleasant weather.
