Infant Health Professional question?

Currrently my fiance and I are running circles with Doctors and a couple Hospitals on what to do about our 3 month old son.

-From Lab work, he has a 5.5 Potassium level.

-He has an average temperature lately of 101-102 Deg. F.

-He has a flat spot on the back of his head from supposedly picking a "Favored" position to lay his head. We've been administering more tummy-time, Holding him a majority of the day, and turning his head gently to the other side. This has been working and improved majorly.

-Along with this Fever... he has also experienced some sort of Twitch. It's a very short... and maybe happens 3-5 times a day in periods. Like in the morning his eye will twitch a little. Sometimes his head will twitch a little to the side. Not a drastic twitch but noticeable.

I'm scared for my son from some of the articles I've been reading on High Potassium in Infants. Kidney failure? My fiance and I previously had 2 miscarried pregnancies. This one is a survivor of two......

Update:

twins from conception. He's very strong, very smiley and I don't know how to handle this. So what I am asking is if any Doctors whom might answer on Yahoo! please give me some advice on how to approach this. Do... I take him back to the hospital until they find a resolution??? My son hasn't kept a complete bottle down in 8 days. He keeps some of it down, but... I don't know "How much!" he's actually getting. Please help...

Thank you & Warmest Regards,

Steve K

Update 2:

Emmah; he's 3 Months. Not Years.

I am not an expert but I will pipe in... I hope you get some professional responses as well....

    EXCESS OF POTASSIUM

There is no major chronic disease associated with too much potassium. When excess potassium is present in the blood, the cause is usually a health problem such as kidney failure, uncontrolled diabetes or use of certain drugs. Excess potassium can trigger a heart attack and result in death.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I actually see a nephrologist (kidney specialist). I will try to email her to see if she has any ideas. One would THINK with a fever your baby would have low potassium from dehydration.

Did your wife have an uncomplicated pregnancy? Was the baby full term? Kidney problems can start in the womb and are one of most commonly diagnosed diseases with kids (usually around the age of 3 YEARS) at least from my understanding. And how long exactly has this fever gone on? Did they check his white blood cell count?

If he's sick its totally common to have problems keeping things down or not wanting to eat. The key is to keep up with it even if its just a few ounces like the previous poster said. I know when they are a bit older they recommend tiny amounds of pedialyte every few hours INSTEAD of a bottle but I think 3 months is too young for that.

Find a specialist and figure out what is going on. Keep googling everything you can come up with and insist on testing. Have them do a urine collection for testing as well. It seems weird that a 3 year old is having such issues, and could need some IV fluids if he's not getting enough through his bottles. He should only be taking a few ounces every few hours.

I had persistent sinusitis from mildew from my mother and father condominium. I moved out and it went away. They later had been ready to get rid of it so it was once now not a habitual obstacle. Your high-quality wager is to touch the Health Dept. and get recommendation as to who to speak to approximately deciding upon the mould after which blank up, if required. Not all mildew explanations wellbeing disorders.
