If the end of the pipe does not extend to the edge of the car or further, then the exhaust will rise (hot gasses rise) and be trapped under the car and eventually work its way inside. It isn't so bad if you are driving at speed with the windows down but if you are doing a lot of stop and go or idle for a long time it can be a problem. Additionaly I don't think it is legal to drive a car newer than 1969ish without the muffler.

The carbon monoxide can get into the car. The danger of carbon monoxide is that it attaches to your red blood cells and wont let go. This causes red blood cells less able to carry oxygen. You won't know it until you feel dizzy and that means that the problem is getting pretty bad.
The good news is that opening your window can easily prevent you from getting enough carbon monoxide. Turn your ventilation system off so it doesn't draw in exhaust while sitting at a light or moving slow.

There would be a higher potential if you sat in one place with the windows down and the engine idling, that exhaust could collect closer to the windows of the car and come into the passenger compartment. It could be even worse with the ventilation drawing in air though the heater to make you warm and comfy and sleepy and never wake up from CO poisoning. Just get a new muffler and tailpipe put on at a muffler shop. The time you spent here on the computer could be better spent getting the job estimate.

No, it will just be a noisy journey.
Did it fall off near the back of the car, or near the exhaust-manifold up near the engine??? You're safer if it fell off near the rear of the vehicle.... As a precaution, keep the heating and blower fan off.

ha ha i remeber when that happened to me funny watching it bouncing around on the road, I am no mechanic but you should be fine it will just make a loud noise oh and wear a mask similar to the one micheal jackson was spotted wearing just in case there is any carbon monoxide you can never be too safe

Possibly, keep the windows cracked, it's warm enough out to do so. As long as you keep fresh air coming in you'll be ok. If not, then you have a serious problem.

mostly when ya idling, once ya moving down the road it gets blown behind ya, ya main worry would be if ya going out drinking cause loud exhaust will get ya pulled over ;)

Yes, But in all honesty it won't hurt you. Just keep your windows down to insure proper ventilation
