$100 for flea, mosquito and tick control for a chihuahua???
I just got a season's worth FMT control from my vet -- VECTRA is the brand name. They said that the F,M,Ts, are becoming immune to the the stuff used in Frontline, etc. Anyone else run into this? Do you think I really need this expensive stuff when Buddy is primarily an indoor dog? Oh, the heartworm med is separate and was $50. Thoughts and comments appreciated. Thanks!

I use Advantix for flea and tick prevention on all my dogs, have had no resistance - I think that was in a small area around the Katrina flood area - and heartworm preventative can be bought generically, it is all the same.
Depending on where you are, I suspect you paid a bit much, yes.

Frontline Plus isnt labeled for mosquitos. As far as the flea control, it needs to be used properly (dog/cat completely dry, directly onto the skin, etc) for it to work. If you are seeing the fleas on the top of the coat, then it means that it's working. If you have ticks, are they dead when you find them? That means it's working.
The heartworm preventative is a must, regardless if he's indoors or out. And if you think about it, if you put on something like OFF! on your skin, how long does it really keep the bugs away? I dont think the mosquito stuff for dogs is worth the money.

My 3 canines are on interceptor once a month it is the middle computer virus preventative. i do not recognize of yet another type because I merely purchase this from my vet. i trust it really is like 8.00 or so somewhat. i'd properly be incorrect - I commonly deliver the hubby to %. it up! =) I choose benefit for the fleas yet numerous vets stopped wearing that so I honestly were utilising frontline which honestly protects from extra issues than the benefit and it don't have a fragrance to it it is reliable. My mom makes use of Revolution on her 3 cats. She is somewhat delighted with the preserve. It protects antagonistic to fleas, flea eggs, ticks, mosquitos, you call it... benefit is more cost-effective than frontline and revolutionn. i exploit puppy meds when I can. it is plenty more cost-effective than by my vet. reliable success and that i desire this helped some.
