I currently own a 2007 grand vitara. I am also a certified suzuki sales consultant. As far as I am concerned there are no reported probles or bulletins that specify engine problems or any recalls. How ever you have a 200 5 engine. There is where the problem is. Suzuki had several issues with this particular engine year. I reccomend to first find out what rights do you have as far as purchasing a vehicle certain year and finding a different year engine. There is a big issue here. It sounds like the dealer that sold you that 2006 vitara needs a lesson. Good luck to you.

My sisters Vitara had to have the head completely rebuilt. It had only 80K miles on it at the time. What made it even more difficult, there are few mecahnics trained on Suzuki maintenece & the parts were hard to get unless you like paying through the nose at the dealer. It took 3 weeks to fix her car. It all started when the timing chain simply wore out. Go figure. If it were a Mazda, Toyota, or Honda, that never would have happened. I feel that Suzuki is less then satisfactory and I question their quality.

Suzuki Corp stands behind their vehicles, call the 1800 number for customer service( in your owners manual ) if not already done. If you have solid evidence of what you say your issue will be resolved. As far as the dealer itself goes...well they are all franchises and all you can do is sue them.
