Be very careful with Storable Pools. Make sure the pump is Listed to US Standards; look at the pump motor carefully, and make sure it is listed to UL Standard 1081 (it may also be Marked E 193). [Make sure that a "CSA" Listing Mark is followed by the letters "US"]

You MUST use a GFCI protected receptacle, and it must be at least 10 feet from the pool [NEC Article 680.34]. The National Electrical Code requires ALL receptacles within 20 feet of the pool to be GFCI protected; also, the motor must be "double-insulated", and the pump shall come equipped with a cord that includes an equipment grounding conductor [NEC Article 680 - Part III]

The cord must be 25 feet or more in length, and the pump must be marked "This Pump is for use with Storeable Pools only - Do Not Use with Permanently Installed Pools." The Pump shall also have a Listing Mark that includes the product name, and that states "Swimming Pool Pump", or "Swimming Pool Pump or Spa Pump"

Most Manufacturer's of temporary pools also require that the pump (filter) be unplugged anytime someone is in the pool. Whether it is required, or not, always unplug the pump before using the pool. Test the GFCI prtection before every pool season; it's simple, just push the "TEST" button. If it does not trip, or doesn't reset, call an electrician to replace it.

Yes for the filter to run it needs electricity. The filter should run for 12 hours a day. I also have the solar blanket and the cover. The solar blanket really warms it up.

Be VERY careful how you get electricity to your pump... Electricity and water DO NOT PLAY WELL TOGETHER and can be DEADLY!

Also, make sure the wiring/extension cord is rated for the Amps that the pump uses, otherwise the wiring/cord may overheat and catch fire.

You need an outlet that has electricity, but many just run extension cords from one. Also make sure you have that pool on a FLAT surface or it will burst................like mine did.
