What does it mean to be a true friend?

Okay, so lately I've had some issues with keeping friends, because it seems like I'm doing all the work to stay friends. My boyfriend told me that a lot of people that I consider to be my friends really aren't...and know I'm really confused as to how I can distinguish who my true friends are and who they aren't. I guess, just to be general, what does it mean to you to be a true friend? Would you consider someone you talk to minimally a friend? How do you draw the line? And is there something wrong with you if no one seems to want to be your friend?

I guess all these questions are coming from my own insecurities, but I really want to know what you guys think..so please answer. =]]

You're probably choosing the wrong friends. A true friend is there for you weather you call them at 3pm or 3am. One time I got into an argument with a not so good friend when we were out late one night and I ended up walking home at 3am.

I told my true friend about the incident and she told me I should've called her so she could've come to pick me up and take me home. I didn't wish to bother her over my personal issue with my other friend but it felt good to know she would be there for me whenever I need her and I will always be there for her.

A true friend is someone who can make you smile even when you don't want to, and someone who is always there for you. Someone who helps you when you need it, someone who keeps your secrets, and things like that.

If no one seems to want to be your friend, there has to be something wrong with them, i'm sure you are a very nice person, and probably a great friend.

A true friend is one who accepts you for who you are; is willing to help you when you need it; be a shoulder to cry on if necessary; and never asks for anything.

  • The thing you said is how to draw line.................lemme tell you one thing my friend that you never need to draw line, true friendship comes straight from the heart. when you care or involves with some one and feel that cant live without him/her. but same time you need to differentiate between true friendship & Love................hope u dont need explanation for that............... :)
