Avery Johnson, Mike Diantonio, Why are the Knicks Looking at these guys.. I thought that one of the problems..

the Knicks have, is they play NO defense... Im sorry, but, The Dallas Maericks and Phoenix suns Played Defense?

I mean, if they did the whole theory and concept of stopping the other team from putting the ball in the basket must not have been covered in game preparation.

Update:

tdubya....

Assumptions? i have NEVER seen the Dallas Mavericks stop ANYONE in a big spot.. maybe YOU go by numbers and stats, but I believe what my eyes tell me and The Mavericks were soft defensively BEFORE johnson, and they were Soft WITH Johnson. I never Said Johnson was not Defensive Minded, but he did a poor job at coaching it well with that team.

Oh1 and Thank you for the spell check, ANAL MUCH!?

i have no idea why anybody would be after Diantoni but avery is a pretty good coach. i agree, avery and the mavs could never figure out the concept of team defense but avery did stress it. honestly who could the knicks go get much better than avery and to some diantoni. i think avery would be a good choice for your knicks! :-)

Source(s): you know, you seem to go against everything i stand for (sports wise). we could be so much closer if you were a mavs fan or better yet a cowboys fan....LOL. j/k, still love ya babe!

I agree with you on D'antoni, his philosophy seems to be run and gun all day long. But, Avery Johnson does stress defense in his coaching (at least from what I've seen and read about him). I think he just didn't have the personnel to execute. Coaching can only take you so far. I mean, you just can't expect Jason Kidd to guard a guy like CP3 anymore. That was a bad trade, and they were doomed from the start. In AJ's first two years in Dallas, they played good defense (93.1 pts and 92.8 pts). This year that figure jumped to 95.87 pts (I'm guessing most of the damage done when they acquired Kidd). I think Johnson is a good coach. I also like to see Van Gundy back with the Knicks as well. I would be happy with either one. But, the Knicks need a lot more than a good coach at this point.

Don't just make assumptions. Do a little research. The Mavericks have been a top 10 defensive team during Avery Johnson's entire tenure as head coach.

Suns do suck at it though. And it's Mike D'antoni.

Avery Johnson is a very defense minded coach. The Mavericks were terrible on defense when he took over and he made them alot better, especially when you look at the players he had to work with.

Mike Diantonio is definitely a step up from Isiah Thomas. If Larry Brown couldn't get them to play D who do you think can? Pat Riley ain't coming back. Red holzman ain't coming back. Knicks aren't going anywhere until they get some winning personnel. Jamal Crawford, Marbury. and Zach Randolph are terrible defensive players that have what 25 years total in the league. Their not suddenly changing. No one's coming in here and making them better defensive players.

Source(s): I doubt Avery or Diantonio would take this job anyway...

The Knicks are a laughing stock right now. I just find it funny to see all these problems they have. But yes, these new coaches will not help fix the problems. Then again, what else is out there?

You are so right, these two coaches would not fit in NY either. D'Antoni is the worst coach out there.

    Avery should sign in Chicago
