Generally, the only way that is going to happen is if you ovulated late and therefore when you THOUGHT your period was late, you were actually testing early.

A simple example is that you ASSUME you ovulated on the 14th day of your cycle, but because of some unusual stress (physical or mental), your ovulation was delayed by a week or more. Well, you miss your period on the 28th so you get an HPT and it's negative. But since your period is quite regular, you don't trust it an you go get a blood test. It comes out negative as well because you're thinking AF is late when in reality, the embryo is just implanting and hasn't started production of the hcg that the tests look for.

However, given that even when you've timed the baby dance just right, you only have about a 20-25% chance of getting pregnant in any given month... the odds are going to be VERY low that you are actually pregnant after two negative tests.

Of course the other possiblility is that there was a problem with the HPT (after all, they are only 99% accurate) AND the doctor's office messed up the blood test. But the odds of both of them being wrong is going to be pretty remote. Wouldn't bet my life on it, but would bet a pay-check that you're not pregnant.

nope. everytime i got a negative blood test, i really wasn't pregnant. i don't think there is much of a margin for error with a blood test.
