How Did My Fish Fluffy Die?
My fish Fluffy died a couple of days ago. The tank wasn't very clean, I fed him regularly, and his oxygen was normal. I noticed his fins were frayed and he had a black line going down the side. He stopped eating 2 days before his death, and began having trouble swimming. This was after a 9 day break in which I used a pellet that was supposed to keep him fed for 10 days. Please help me lay to rest my dear FLUFFY!!?!

Water quality killed him. The black marks were ammonia burns.
To keep fish healthy you need to keep water healthy. Its really waterkeeping, not fishkeeping. Those trashy feeder blocks combined with a lack of tank maintenance would have caused an ammonia spike which will be fatal if prolonged and action is not taken immediately.
So in effect, you killed your fish through not keeping his water quality immaculate and possible overfeeding. Blunt but true.

yeah, the dirty water makes them sick and then they die. I went on a trip for two weeks and my Oscar's tank was due for a cleaning the week before I left, but I didn't have the time. I asked the person I left Mr. Chompers with to clean the tank, they said they would, When I came back, my Oscar and Plecostamas (sp?) were dead, with little black marks on them. They never cleaned it and they died. it blows. I'll never leave my pets with that person again.

If you don't clean the tank when its visibly dirty your cruel. If its that dirty you should have cleaned it. And if he stopped eating you should have tried a different food. 8..( Poor Fluffy must have died in pain.

Good tank maintance is key. If your tank was not clean and especially if it was visibly dirty then unfortunately you are at the very least somewhat responsible.
