Economic Stimulus direct deposit late??

I got the letter from the IRS saying my deposit would be made May 9th. When I check the website link it tells me "no information available" - my co-worker just checked hers and got all her info. Our last two SSN digits happen to be the same. What is going on!!?? I am depending on that deposit for various reasons and if its not here tomorrow I am basically screwed. For those who got theirs late - how late??? I filed single mother, head of household, with 3 allowances through turbotax.com and my taxes were submitted and approved on Jan 11 and 12th. I don't understand........................where is my stimulus!!??

Update:

I didn't have to pay any tax prep fees - I used the free edition of turbo tax. I only paid $30 to file my state tax prep fee.

Update 2:

I just went to turbotax.com and it says if you used a third party (like Santa Barbra Bank & Trust) they set up temporary accounts for your federal refund and a direct deposit would not be made. Because of this they are going to mail my check May 30th when I was told to expect it no later than May 9th!!

i hear that when you use those online tax preparation sites you will get a paper check instead of direct deposit.

I got a letter on Monday saying my direct deposit should arrive by May 2nd-that was Friday. Then it said to contact the IRS if I have not received it within the next 6 weeks? I too was counting on that money and have had two "insufficient funds" charges on my checking account. I had to deposit a credit card check to cover in the meanwhile.

I qualified for the free filing so there were no fees that were supposed to be taken out.

According to the Web Site that I filed at the refund should be deposited by April 25th? That's our Federal Government for you. As if we were not already struggling enough I wonder how many of us will pay our banks for insufficient funds because of their unreliable information? I already lost $66 dollars of my stimulus check.

I am glad the poster below can say be calm. I suppose it is imposible for someone finacially secure to not understand that some people are not so lucky. Try losing a JOB after 15 years and go back to college to earn a degree-then find that there are still no jobs after that. And have to pay student loans and live working only part time.

The IRS website is more dependable then the letter. The website will show when you have been scheduled, so hopefully it will show your information soon. As for your stimulus amount it depends on your income. You should receive 600 for yourself, 300 per child so about 1500. It will differ if you made too much, or if you owed outstanding taxes. Also if you used turbotax.com did you pay any fees if so was it up front or did you have them taken from you refund. If so you might be receiving a paper check

Hopefully my answer for this question will help - I have posted it for some others who have asked similar:

SSN between 21 and 75 however after not receiving a deposit I contacted my tax prep and found this out:

NO DIRECT DEPOSIT FOR MOST USING COMMERCIAL TAX PREPARERS - Jackson Hewitt, HR Block or other commercial companies for this reason:

Unbeknownst to us - when you chose to have the tax prep fees taken out of your "directly deposited" refund YOU WILL GET PAPER CHECK adding another month to the wait - because your return was not deposited into your account by the IRS. It has gone through the company's banking system and then deposited by them.

If you have not received your stimulus deposit - you may have inadvertently "chosen" an RAC or RAL.

    Just an FYI:

A "refund anticipation check" (RAC) is the non-loan bank product that many commercial tax preparers and their bank partners offer in addition to refund anticipation loans (RALs). They are sometimes called "refund transfers" or "accelerated check refunds."

RACs are also commonly provided to taxpayers who do not have the up-front cash to pay for tax preparation. In these cases, the preparer deducts the tax preparation fee from the consumer’s refund when it hits the dummy account, prior to cutting the RAC check to the consumer.

Tax preparers and their bank partners have sold a significant number of RACs. In 2002, about 1.75 million H&R Block customers were sold this product. The main bank partner for Jackson Hewitt, Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, sold approximately 3 million RACs in 2003 and has stated that RACs are actually their most popular tax refund product.

Stimulus Payments are being issued on a schedule according to the last 2 digits of the primary social security number (SSN) shown on your 2007 tax return.

If filing or preparation fees were deducted from your 2007 Refund or you received a rapid refund, you will be receiving a check instead of a direct deposit. Please see the Paper Check section of the Payment Schedule.

You should check the Payment Schedule prior to using this application since your payment information will not be available on this tool until the time that your payment is scheduled.

SusanW and Gary, you are both completely out of touch with the economic reality of the US. Nobody is "paying" for this. It's our own money. Clearly, you don't understand the tax process. But that's okay, the internet is full of morons like you and I don't condone your ignorance but I do accept it.

Now as to the original question, you may get screwed by TurboTax.com - there's that 3rd-party filer delay. I'm so sorry. It's been downplayed in the media but I bet you'll hear about it a lot after today when a lot more people don't get their money.

Mine was scheduled for May 6th and that's exactly when I got it.

You have to put your information into the "Where's my stimulus payment" page EXACTLY as you filed -- including the exact number of people you claimed, INCLUDING yourself.

Also, if you didn't get your tax refund direct deposited, you won't get a direct deposit on the stimulus payment.

I filed my federal tax return online with H&R Block's Tax Cut, my refund was direct deposited and so was my stimulus payment.

If you have made any changes to your bank account since filing you return (like closing it and opening another one), you will not get direct deposit.

I have heard that the website will only update your info on there if it is a week or less until you are supposed to get yours deposited or mailed. Also a lot of people who filed with Turbotax.com are receiving theirs in the mail, I've heard if you go to turbotax.com it will explain everything to you.

Check the bank statement that has your 2007 refund on it. If it says US TREASURY 220 TAX REFUND ( means refund came directly from IRS) when your refund was deposited, then you will get direct deposit. If it says anything else (means it came from a third party like H&R Block , TurboTax , etc.) you will receive a paper check.

I can only tell you you aren't alone, I filed with free turbo tax also, and can't get any info either. I haven't even gotten the letter, so I guess you are a step ahead anyway. Hang in there!
