"A penny for your thoughts!"?
If one person says to another person," A pennie for your thoughts!" and the other person gives him their "two cents worth" then who really comes out on the better end of the deal?
I would like your thoughts on this, Thanks!!!

the two cents worth comes out a little better because they got to share what was on their heart and feel heard but if the other person really cared what the other person was thinking and the thought was really interesting and thought provoking then they both come out pretty even. i think the person who asked to hear the others thoughts should get to tell what they were thinking about too

The person that got the two cents worth because he or she valued that person's thoughts at only a penny and the person that gave the thoughts valued it higher but not convincingly enough for the person who only offered a penny. However, in future transactions the person that gave more than what was asked then he or she might be able to up the price by giving a little more.
edit: Lol on people saying penny. Clever. Or inflation.

The person who gives the "penny for your thought" is receiving the better end of the deal, due to conversating with the other person, who initially gives two cents out...
So the person who gives the "penny for your thought" is receiving his payment back plus one extra, ultimately being the great benefiter.

The person who asked for the thought gets the better end of the deal. Gaining knowledge or an insight into one's thought can be more valuable than giving your "two cents worth."

Either way, they'll both be late for work.
The person who says 'penny for your thoughts' is basically telling the other person to give them their two cents worth. If the person has any thoughts at all, I would expect them to take a while to explain their thoughts.
I hope someone realizes that 'three's company' and they could form the new era of the three stooges.

the person that said a penny for your thoughts.
cuz once they give them a penny and the other person gives them their two cents worth, the person asking the question gets a penny in return.

It depends on the conversation, the person who gave a penny for the other person's thoughts might have felt like he was ripped off.
That's my two cents; now do I get a penny for my thoughts?

A lot of people want to tell their thoughts but if you're talking with an elderly person, you will get more out of their "two cents worth" because they are experienced with life situations. Sometimes we need to just shut up and listen. Ya know?

The person who "gives their two cents" to the person who originally offered to purchase their thought for only one penny definately gets the short end of the stick. Not only are they paying 100% more than the original asking price, they are leaving themselves open for further purchases to be pursued by the original vendor. :)

I would say both because you always learn more about yourself when explaining what you think or believe to another person, and often can reshape exactly what you think. However the one receiving the "two cents" is also learning another one's views on anything and everything, which is ultimately the true source of understanding. For through hearing others it will either strengthen or weaken what you hold as true. To listen always equals learn, but to speak ones thoughts can be everything from teaching to ranting : )
