That would be awesome to turn into a lizard. It's a pleasant thought, but I can't say I "believe" in it. Still, if someday I turned into a chameleon, I wouldn't complain.

There are several religions in which they believe that when you die you can come back as an animal, insect, plant, etc. There belief system follows the pattern that your soul is important and your reincarnation back to life is either a punishment for a past wrong (coming back as a fly) or a reward for a life well lived (coming back as a cow, in some places they are worshipped and not eaten). You may not physically or mentally be aware as a fly of the past wrongs and your former life, but your soul will and will retain that lesson for it's next life.

I'm confused.
Reincarnation you mean, not evolution right?
Only the essence of who you are goes on to the next life, they say. Who you are in this life: your personality and all your memories will die with your body. What is supposed to continue on is your essence, the part of you that you might call a soul. This part of you is re-born as a new person with anew life that is the product of how you lived in this life and others before. So you cannot know yourself in the next life, though I've heard about rare cases when a person has memories of a past life.

You mean reincarnation, not evolution.
And I don't think you get to keep your personality and memories.
