Did Jesus visit the Lamanites?

III Nephi 11:8-10 claims that after Jesus ascended to heaven he appeared in America to the Lamanites and Nephites in 34 A.D. However, this clearly contradicts the Bible. Of the ascension of Christ to heaven God said, "Sit thou on my right hand until I make thy foes thy footstools." (Acts 2:34,35) How long was he to be in heaven at God's right hand? "For he must reign, until he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." (I Corinthians 15:25,26) Furthermore, of the ascension the Bible teaches, "whom the heavens must receive until the restitution of all things." (Acts 3:21) Christ did not come to America - because he has been in heaven since his ascension.

Update:

Jesus didnt Visit Paul....he spoke to him

much different

And Stephen saw him at Gods throne....where he said he would be.

So...when CHrist said "Other sheep I have which are not of this fold, them also I must bring and there will be one fold and one shepherd" WHO xactly do you think HE was referring to? We believe that the Lamanites was who!

And just as the Bible refers to Christ teaching spirits in the spirit world after His ascended into Heaven - and Christ told His disciples to "TOUCH ME NOT, for I have not yet ascended into My Father" - so following this ascension HE visited this continent.

BUT of course you must already know with 100% certainty where Christ went or didn't go every minute & day following His resurrection, right??? Of course that makes it much more convenient to deny any other possible options which is also pretty convenient for you. BUt that's ok - that is your personal right.... as it is OURS to see things differently - more completely even!

John 10: 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

You're merely going by your own interpretation. The New Testament does not cover the acts of Christ after His ascension -

You said: "Christ did not come to America - because he has been in heaven since his ascension."

Um, Christ visited Saul AFTER the ascension. Saul heard more than a voice, he saw the Lord. Acts 9:27.

Acts 23:11 "And the night following the Lord STOOD BY HIM, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome."

Acts 26:16 - [This is Paul telling what the Lord said to him on the road to Damascus] "But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have APPEARED unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; "

1 Cor. 15:8 - [Paul lists the people who have seen the resurrected Christ in verses 5-8...and in verse 8 he includes himself in that list] "And last of all he was SEEN of me also..."

I'll give you Stephen...he saw Christ in heaven like you say. But Christ appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus. And that's not just an LDS belief...lots of Christians believe Christ appeared to Paul.

First of all the books you are referring to are in the book of Mormon. So without any prejudice to anyone belief system lets look at this thing historically. Which book predates the Book of Mormon? The Holy Bible. So if you look at it from this perspective any book that comes after the Bible is an addition to the Bible and does it not say that you should not alter any word from what is contained within those scriptures so yes he did not come to America he has been in the heavens since his ascension. And for that I say AMEN.

If we followed that chain of scriptures you would have to jump over a lot of other to prove your point.

and uh.......when is that restitution of all things.......... wouldn't that mean that there was a falling away first? An apostasy. Dude you just made a scriptual evidence for the Mormons. Are you sure your not one of them too.

What does John 10:16 mean to you? Just curious.

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

So he didn't appear to Paul or Stephan?

Acts 9:27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
