"Our" English is older, and more unique than the American English. The spellilng is different, and we use a lot of different words. Like chips are called "fries" in America, and different spellings like "favorite" and "color".
And the accents of course. I think some Americans are just jealous!! :-p

The spellings are sometimes slightly different between the two, and also how things are pronounced is usually a little different.
American english is a combination of many cultures words in many cases, where as the British english is directly from the original english language. Both are understood most of the time between each other, and similar enough that we'll always understand what the other is saying........most of the time.

American English? There are many kinds of American English. East of the Mississippi River, subtle changes can be detected as close as five miles apart. (The Smith and Traeger Study) Northerners have a difficult time understanding people from the deep south. I once knew a guy in New Mexico who came from Maine. Nobody in New Mexico could understand him. The New England accent, of which there are many, sounds very effeminate to a Mid-Westerner, while the Midwest accent sounds cloddish to a New Englander. To a northerner, the southern accents can sound sexy to some people while other people think the southern accent sounds retarded. Memphis Tennessee speaks a language which vaguely resembles English, but I don't think it is. I have been in 49 of the 50 states and Memphis is the only place I have ever been where I could not understand the people. My boss there even sent me to have my hearing checked. (Presumptuous witch) In some parts of Louisiana, the black people talk like northern whites and the white people talk like northern blacks. We have lots of accents here.

Do you mean differences between the English and American English language? American has probably just formed over time amongst the different immigrant groups and mis-spellings have been adopted as being correct to them. It's almost like another English dialect but all spelled funny.

England was around tons of years before America. The English language came from England. The Brits use different words than we do now, though. They call women Birds and men Bloaks and they do talk quite differently. Even their cuss words are different. They can understand our English, but sometimes theirs is hard to understand.
