What's a good baby name for 2nd baby, to match daughter "Lucy"?
Not sure if we are having a girl or boy, but having trouble thinking of names that would go well with our 1st daughter's name: "Lucy", as we keep disagreeing on names we like.

For a name like Lucy, which is classic but uncommon, feminine without being over-the-top girly, and short, you want something distinctly feminine/nonandrogynous, but not super-frilly, similarly classic (as opposed to trendy or made-up) and similar in length. Get too far away in any of the categories (gender, length, style, or popularity) and the names just don't match.
The book "Beyond Jennifer and Jason" has a great breakdown of how to choose names similar in style, and lists of names that fit each category. I use it for naming fictional characters, but it's a great resource for naming anybody, and understanding why some names "go" and others don't.

I really like the name Lucy. It's very uncommon now! Well what about for a girl: Darleen, Karen, Rose, Ruthie, Melanie, Meghan, Malyssa, Bethany, Kayleen, Mackay, Rachael, Julie, or a boy: Micah, Jeremiah, Jeremy, Stephan, Garret, Ross, Patrick (that would go best with Lucy I think...)

Well, for a girl, I think Sohpia, Sophie, or Sadie sounds cute with Lucy. I especially like Lucy and Sadie.
As for boys, Trevor, Benjamin, Greg, or Grant sounds good. Lucy and Grant would be cute.
Good luck!

I think that it would be cute if you named the 2nd baby ricky or rikki depending on if it is a boy or a girl (as in ricky and lucy from I love lucy). But if you want it to be matchy, then you should name it lacey if it is a girl and lucas if it is a boy

I love the previous names mentioned: Sophie, Charlie, and Ruby. All go really well with Lucy.
