Getting a new computer with Vista. Don't want Vista. Can I install my old XP from 2003?

Will it work ok? or will it be incompatible.

It depends. Keep in mind that XP is old and doesn't recognize a lot of new hardware. Also keep in mind that you will have to format your hard drive and will lose everything on it. Before starting, download XP drivers for all of your hardware and burn them to disc. This is critical, because once you format the hard drive you're at the point of no return. XP won't recognize your hard drive, because it predates SATA controllers. If you don't have XP drivers for the drive and controller, XP will insist you don't have a hard drive and refuse to install.

If you are getting a laptop, odds are high that it won't be supported by XP.
