Listen, denying there is avian flu is wrong. It does exist and several people died.
But...
All those who were infected got infected because they were handling live birds. None of them was infected because they ate the birds.
All the infection cases tookplace in the countryside, not the city, where it is commmon for birds to live near or inside the houses.
Finally, even if you are unlucky enough to buy an infected bird, once cooked the virus is dead. So, there is no chance of catch avian fly from a cooked bird.
Facts above, I leave the verdict to you.

if you cook the chicken well , there won't be any possibility of getting infected , the virus dies at 70 C , so boiling the chicken while you are cooking will kill the virus
also you have to take precautions while you are handling with the chicken before cooking: wear gloves , wash your hand thoroughly after handling with it , donnot put your hand on your mouth or nose while it's not clean yet .
wish you enjoy your stay in egypt

It is very safe to eat birds in Egypt as long as it is in a trusted and clean restaurant but my advice to u is try not eat so much vegetables like in salads. These kinds of vegetables contain some bacteria which is safe for Egyptians to eat cause they r used to it (it is not harmful to them at all) but it is stronger than bacteria in other countries so try not to eat them so much.

well as of now its okay to eat birds and it will probably still be ok in july because bird flu hasen't been around for a while, but just keep on checking the news in case its not like they are going to lie about that

just make sure it was frozen (factory processed)
don't get even near the live poultry (there are a lot of live poultry stores in egypt)
remember its a respiratory disease transmitted mainly thru inhalation
further info: google H5N1

If you don't want to eat it you could always just stick to beef, lamb etc... but I was eating hamam mahshi just a couple of months after the outbreak and I was fine! I think it's okay... all my relatives eat poultry and they're fine!

those who catch the virus handle poultry.
well cooked chicken is ok.
try to avoid grilled chicken bec it might not be well cooked from the inside or the other side .

Those who are infected are dealing with the birds first hand, they raise them, clean after them and slaughter them. If you buy frozen chichen from the super market, it is absolutely safe, we all do that.
