Breastfeeding concern?

My daughter is 15 mths and wouldn't latch(she was tongue tied)

My son is 3 weeks and latched on perfectly(he was also tongue tied)

My concern is that he latches and suckles and then after about 10 min on each breast he falls asleep and I place him in his crib & he wakes crying. I have tried a pacifier. I believe in feeding him when he is hungry. I have been giving him some formula. He eats 4 oz every 2-3 hrs sometimes more. I hate the formula but how can I get him to get full if he keeps spitting it out?

Also with a toddler sometimes It is hard for me to sit and nurse him. I have him on the boob and chasing her around. She dosen't sleep through the night and I am the only one who gets up with them and I am so tired. I have tried to lay down and nurse him but I fell asleep and I am scared I will smother him. I have tried pumping and at first I was doing great but I have slacked off the pumping and nursing and I am scared I will stop altogetaher. I still have milk. What do I do?

Update:

Also I can get him to latch perfect on the left breast but it is hard for me to get him to latch on the right so it is bigger. The last time he nursed on that side I don't know if he latched wrong but it hurt really bad.

he's still little yet. It's normal for him to fall asleep on the breast and right now he is going through a growth spurt I bet which is why he's hungrier. Just keep nursing him on demand. Eventually he will get the hang of latching on the right side as well. I know you're tired... trust me I am too. My son is 9 weeks old now and he falls asleep on the breast. When he was 3 weeks it was worse cause he wanted to nurse every hour, plus he is colic. I must suggest swaddling. My son won't take a pacifier either... he's the first baby I wished would take one lol. swaddling and a video called the happiest baby on the block and gripe water has been my lifesavers. Along with the swing :D good luck to you mamma.

first off congratulations on breastfeeding your new son.

i woulds forget 10Min's on each breast ,try feeding him for has long has he wants from one side, if he still seems hungry try the other breast . when you only allow 10 Min's at each breast your baby may not be getting any hind milk ,the milk which is full off calories and will fill our son up.also when they are small ( new born) they do seem to suckle alittle ,seem to fall asleep then they will start to suckle again . when he has had enough he will push your nipple out ,then id try putting him down in his crib.

when you are going to feed him from your right breast try just hand expressing a little off ,so its not so engorged this should help him latch on a little better.

you can get your sons tongue tie cut if you take him to your Doctor.this will help also with him latching on

    hope Ive helped

Hang in there. He'll get it eventually.

With your toddler daughter...I totally understand. Does she like to read? Maybe you could sit and read to her and the baby while you nurse. Or, as a last desperate attempt, you could put in a movie/TV show so you can sit for a few minutes and nurse. I think it's hard on mom and baby to be running around while you're feeding, bottle or breast. What worked with my daughter is that when I was ready to feed my son, I'd ask her if she wanted to feed her baby too. She'd run off to get a doll, blanket and bottle. She'd sit next to me and feed her baby while I nursed. We'd talk, sing or read to keep her attention.

    Good luck!
