Am I exempt from "time and a half" overtime pay?

I am a charter high school teacher in Arizona, getting paid by the hour. How would I know whether or not I am considered "exempt" from the fair labor act that requires time-and-a-half pay after 40 hours? The increased rate does not show up on my paycheck, but how can I know for sure whether or not I am entitled the extra pay?

  • Contact the AZ Dept of Labor, or go onto their website. They will have all of the laws, as well as a way to contact them if you have certain questions.
