Should religions have an affect on the moral climate, and thus, conditions in this world? If so how?

If not why not?

I think one of the most important aspects of following a religion is the worldview it represents. A worldview answers the questions "where did we come from?", "what went wrong with the world?" and "how can the world be redeemed?" As such, a religious worldview that provides solid answers to these questions affects the decisions each of us make - decisions that ultimately determine our morality and cultural significance.

    Some morals in the bible:

It condones slavery and sanctions polygamy.

It commands the destruction and massacre of all, the old, sick, helpless women and babies.

Picking up sticks on Sunday means death.

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

Whoever does not believe in the supreme deity should be stoned.

Husbands were to kill there unbelieving wives.

It sanctions lying, larceny, robbery, murder, and selling diseased meat to strangers.

If you make hair-oil like the priests it is punishable with death.

Should we all delight in the smell of burning flesh?

How about the story of Ester and Naomi, should we bring our girls up with those morals?

These are morals? Shall I continue with all the morals of that book?

Somehow [and that might be a personal thing] I see neither love nor morals in that so called holy book...

"Should" is not the question. They do.
