My flat paint is too shiny?
I am touching up some paint on my ceiling. It is flat and has no sheen to it. I had Home Depot mix up a can of flat paint that is of the same color. After painting it on up there you can see an obvious difference in the sheens. I have verified that the new paint is indeed flat.
Is there any way of making the new paint more flat? It is an acrylic latex. Any ideas?

Paint colorant has the chemical glycol in it, glycol prevents the colorant from drying in the tinting machine after the paint has cured totally 14 to 21 days the glycol will dissipate and the sheen will disappear
learned this after repainting (flat)one wall in a dark blue room and was totally shiny like semi-gloss after 3 days was better and after reassuring the client and explaining about glycol she was happy and after 3 weeks the paint had gone flat

Give it a couple days. Paint is partially titanum dioxde. It comes to the surface to give a smooth finish. If it does not go away try some fine grade steel wool or some TSP.
