What are some characteristics of a front-page high school newspaper story?
I have written a myraid of articles for my high school paper over the past three years. However, my articles have never appeared on the front page.
While I like to see my articles published whether they appear on page 2 or page 10, I would like to have at least one article published before I graduate.
For those who know a lot about high school papers, or papers in general: what makes an appealing front page H.S. story? controversy? illegal activity? mention of a famous person? humor?

Reader interest is the key to Page One.
The article which interests the most students, and will be the most discussed, and is most important to students, is the one which should appear at the top of the front page.
