Why is Burma not allowing aid into their country?

Burma is a dictatorship country that is ruled by a military junta. They are allowing aid into their country under their terms.
They want to relabel each case of supplies into their country and distribute it themselves to give the appearance to their people that they themselves are supplying the aid to their people.
And, most likely, this is after they remove some items for themselves and government/military officials. It's typical of this type of government.

We could go in and force them to take aid from the rest of the world, but thats not our job, it's the United Nation's and they are going to talk the issue to death before they do anything about it, in the mean time people are going to die and nothing is going to be done about it. The UN hasn't done so well about forcing Myanmar to stop human rights abuses, why do you feel that they can force them to accept human aid? We can't keep going around and starting a war with a country just because we feel the government is bad towards it's own people, they do have a way to get rid of it if they want to, As far as getting aid to them, there isn't much the rest of the world can do but talk about it, if they don't want us (the rest of the free world) to come in and help them out, short of adding to the misery of the poor folks there by attacking the country and forcing the government to take aid from us by blowing up the parts that haven't already been wrecked by the storm, there isn't much WE can do except talk about it, flying into a countries airspace - uninvited by them - is considered a act of war, even if it's to aid people, it's still a act of war towards a country; even in they are in dire need of aid. The bottom line is that the current government of Myanmar doesn't want the rest of the world to see how bad things really are in their country, and letting aid workers in will surely blow wide open how they abuse their people, they'd rather let them die and cover it up. Over there, the vaule of human life is counted in a different manner than we do here in the West. To them, what matters the death of a 100,000 when you have millions to reckon with? They would only use our attempts to aid them by trying to shoot the planes down or sink the ships trying to get into port and then cry to the world that we were trying to over come the legal government in the country. Sort of a catch 22 effect.

I believe Burma is 'governed' by a militant group - and they do not really care about the common people. What a tragedy. This is what happens when a group of bad people take over a nation.

The military government is knows as extremely paranoid. They've kept a human rights activist under house arrest for most of the past 20 years. As long as the government and the military are ok, the people are expendable. Besides, the people being weaker means the government is stronger and less likely to be threatened by a popular uprising.

from what I understand it's the military that rules. If a powerful nation goes in they may not leave. Burma has lots of natural resources.

For the same reason Zimbadwe, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Ecuador don't want the light of day to fall on their despotic regimes. They are ALL Communist (unfree) countries which want the people controlled.
