How many games do you think Ribeiro will be suspended for?

Because he intentionally slashed Chris Osgood after the game ended. I'll say 1.

Update:

you - I simply asked how many games Ribeiro would be suspended for, I did not call him cheap or demonstrate any bias in my question. Also, Ribeiro had no reason to skate so aggressively and cut corners around the goal when the game was one second from finishing. In doing this, he gave Osgood a reason to give him a "love tap" to prevent him from running the Detroit defenseman behind the goal after the game was over. The fact that Ribeiro was hit in the face is irrelavent because it was neither intentional nor harmful or potentially harmful. Ribeiro's reaction, however, was intentional, and even if Osgood was wearing a chest protector, the slash was uncalled for and potentially more dangerous than Osgood's "tap" on Ribeiro. As for Turco, his actions are perfectly legal in my opinion, but I don't think he should be criticizing Osgood's "tap" on Ribeiro when he had been doing the same thing several times during the game to Red Wings players.

This is bullshit..how can he not be suspended? If you say Osgood "provoked" it, then does that mean it would've been o.k. for Filppula to get up and slash Turco after he tripped him? And if you say none because Osgood embellished it, then you're completely missing the point...it's the intent..you cannot go slashing ppl in the throat, esp. after the game is over...if thats legal than you should play like an angel until the final buzzer and then go beat the **** out of everyone as soon as the game ends so you don't get a penalty...if he doesn't get suspended there is something totally wrong...I go to the University of Michigan so I love (and grew-up loving) Marty Turco...but if there is no penalty I hope someone goes and kicks turco at the end of the next game or something...if the shots are free, why not take them?

    Osgood deserved it

    wings fan.

Osgood got what he deserved (in terms of retaliation).

Ha, I credit Ribeiro w/ having enough will and strength to fight thru the two wings who immediately gave him their attention.

    Keep this in mind:

    - Osgood admitted to willfully hitting Ribeiro. He just claimed that he didn't mean to hit him in the face.

    - Osgood did it near the end of the game. He should've realized that he would've had the refs (and camera's) attention.

    - Ribeiro retaliated to let Osgood know he wasn't gonna take any of his crap. not to injure. shoot, it was his chest protector. not the neck (which is what Osgood came very close to).

    - This argument of Turco getting suspended is ridiculous. First, a goalie should be able to protect his crease. little punches to Holmstrom's head are not grounds for a penalty. remember, Turco is taking a chance too, should he be caught out of position, for a shot. it's part of the game. the trip on Filppula is part of the game too. Turco made a calculated decision when the refs weren't looking. credit him for being smart. Detroit goalie's are too docile.

bottom line: Osgood used poor judgment in his timing. furthermore, it was uncharacteristic of him, and that's probably why the league gave him more attention. you gotta remember, the league can only do so many things. they ain't gonna suspend Ribeiro. cuz Osgood was part of it, and they aren't gonna suspend Osgood.

it's not a big deal. Osgood chose the wrong time to suddenly act tough. that's why he got the attention. wings fans, we don't have a "perfect" little team of "angels". we do dumb things too every now and then. some of you guys put the wings on such a high pedestal.

Tempers have been flared, it quite is playoff hockey afterall. once you have a goalie in Turco attacking various the Wings gamers right here and there, Osgood did one among his very own. i think of that the league needs to verify the sport somewhat deeper. Stuff like that must be dealt with on ice, without suspension. Fines must be assessed, larger ones because of the fact it quite is playoff hockey and hence they're representing the league to a broader objective audience worldwide. yet because of the fact there exchange into reason to injure, the subject alterations into some thing extra like brutality quite than tough enjoying. i'd additionally choose to appoint Chris Osgood for an award for improvisational appearing.

    none because of two reasons,

    1. Osgood hit Ribeiro with his stick and

    2. Osgood obviously imbellished it

  • 1 decade ago

Only 1 game. Normally it would be three, but since a playoff game counts about double since it is so important. He will only be pulled for one.

Like, earlier in the season (not playoffs) when Janssen hit Kaberle he got three, but due to the playoff circumstance, it'll be only 1 for Ribeiro.

2 games and bye bye Stars... Ozzy was just protecting his space and his defense from being run. No different then Turco tripping the Red Wing player as he skated close to his crease.

There is no reason to take a two handed swing at a player regardless of protection unless there is intent to injure. anyone who think it is just a "LOVE TAP" I have a set of goalie pads and will be glad to take a swing. just because there is more protection in the game today is no reason to allow players to take liberties like this one.

I am betting 1 game! The league wont like that, going at a goalie after the game ended. I think he will get a game, if not, he will have a meet and greet with McCarty in game 3 and will turtle! He will be headhunted if he gets no suspension.

none osgood is being a baby. If a goalie can with stand a slap shot to the chest then i think he can stand a slash. Thats garbage.

Probably none.....Turco did his fair share of dirty work too.

The league need to just to keep some degree of sanity in the series. Either way.....if he doesn't get one, he will have to watching his back the whole series.
